Local Woman Entrepreneur Declared Winner in Provincial Awards
Winnipeg, MB -The Women Business Owners of Manitoba (WBOM) named Mariette DeGagné of Vari Tech Systems Inc., the recipient of the Business Building category at the 2010 Manitoba Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. This annual gala event puts the spotlight on the successes and achievements of women entrepreneurs in Manitoba. The dinner, MC'd by Maralee Caruso of CTV, took place at the Fairmont Winnipeg on Thursday, May 20th.
The Business Building Award recognizes a woman who has used foresight and initiative to change, grow, and re-focus with emerging trends leading to significant growth in her business. This growth could have resulted from expanding into a new sector of the economy, using innovative strategies in an existing sector, or doing business in sectors where women are few.
Vari Tech Systems Inc pioneered childcarepro - Canada's first on-line management software as a service to daycare centres. Vari Tech developed childcarepro for the Manitoba market and has since expended and adapted its software to the rest of Canada. Vari Tech prides itself on the quality of its services and believes in building strong customer relationships. Quality products, timely implementation plans, comprehensive training packages and reliable support are ways in which it provides value to its customers. At Vari Tech, recognition of the choices made by its clients are both important time and financial investments. "Manitoba has some amazing women entrepreneurs whose stories are inspiring," said Christine Dubyts, President of WBOM and owner of Dubyts Communications Inc. "Anyone in business knows how tough it can be to keep that entrepreneurial spirit alive when the bills are mounting and the challenges exceed the triumphs - but when you believe in your business, in the vision you're realizing, your passion fuels your strength to carry on. The Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award is an exceptional evening of celebration and fun that recognizes outstanding achievements by women in business in our province."
